David
Powell's book, Spirit Intelligence
was launched 9 July at the prestigious Establishment
premises in George Street Sydney with 115
guests from Australian Business and media.
Supported
by Rosemary Howard, CEO of Telstra's presence
in New Zealand, Telstra Clear, Jeffrey Cambridge
MD of HCF Eye Care and Russell Scrimshaw,
former director of Optus and the Commonwealth
Bank of Australia, the launch was an auspicious
beginning for the book that is promising
to be 'a global blockbuster of a book destined
to inspire millions'!
Powell
was in good form, getting the audience to
experience the laws of gravity, compression
and tension with blow up Spirit Intelligence
balloons.
He
said, 'A book launch is an age old and important
ritual.' It had taken him 10 years to refine
the concepts and develop the tools in Spirit
Intelligence and he said, 'Now
I am looking forward to sharing them with
an even wider audience.'
Master
of ceremonies, publisher Oliver Freeman,
likened the launch to his early days in
the industry when he told a disbelieving
boss that a certain feminist manuscript
they were about to publish was going to
be a blockbuster. It was Germaine Greer's
Female Eunuch!
There
was real sense in the room of being at the
beginning of something. And that buzz stayed
throughout the testimonials, the thanks
to people who had figured large in the book's
gestation, and through to the end of the
event when guests queued to buy just under
200 signed copies of Spirit Intelligence.
It was, said one of Powell's twin sons,
'A gold medal performance.'
With
feedback on the value of the book continuing
to strengthen maybe we will in Edison's
terms 'literally astound ourselves'.
